DWNLD.PPE, written by Steven Hauswirth
══════════════════════════════════════
DWNLD.PPE is a replacement for PCBoard's "Enter the Filename to Download"
prompt. It makes a full screen download counter that displays info about the
last ten files flagged for a batch download. This info can include: filename,
filesize, file date (DWNLD.PPE only), transfer time, free file, and no time.
Just a little plug here. If you like this PPE then please vote for it as
your favorite FREE/PUBLIC DOMAIN PPE on the "favs" door on Salt Air!!! I like
to get an idea of how many people are using this.
Files suggested for operation:
DWNLD.PPE The full screen download counter PPE
DWNLD.PPS The source code for DWNLD.PPE
DWNLD.DOC This file <g>.
DWNLD.CFG Configuration file to set colors and text shown.
Installation is long but fairly simple:
1) Copy all the suggested files to your C:\PCB\PPL directory (or any other
location of your choosing)
2) Run MKPCBTXT to edit your PCBTEXT file (should be done for each PCBTEXT
you have).
3) Press the F3 function key and select record #61.
4) You'll see a line that says something similar to:
Enter the filename to Download (Enter)=none
Replace it with a line such as this (reflecting your chosen dir):
!C:\PCB\PPL\DWNLD.PPE
5) Exit PCBTEXT and make sure that your batch file that loads each node of
the BBS has its environment variables PCBDRIVE and PCBDIR set to the
nodes home directory.
6) Make sure that you load SHARE.EXE in your autoexec.bat.
7) Configure the CFG file for your BBS. The sample Config file will work, but
if you want to change colors or text then this is where you can do it.
And thats all to it!
The source code for this PPE is located within this archive as DWNLD.PPS.
Modify it as you need to for your system, but please do not redistribute
the modified source code.
If anyone has any suggestions as to new features then either leave me mail
on the Internet (steven.hauswirth@pwrpalce.com) or call my board, The Power
Palace at (312) 594-0643. Starting with this version the lastest updates will
always be available via FTPMAIL from pwrpalce.com. Use the command
"get dwnld.zip" to receive the UUENCODED file. Other valid commands are:
DIR and HELP.
